What types of foods do the campers cook?
Depending on the week, our food ranges from Italian to Mexican to Asian cuisine. Each day’s lunch is always well-rounded and includes a protein, carbohydrates and vegetables or fruit. Sample lunch for an Italian day would be Chicken Milanese, Penne with Tomato Sauce, Broccoli and Tiramisu. A sample lunch for a Mexican-themed day would be: Chicken Tacos with Guacamole, Rice and Beans, Salad and Churros
Can you accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions?
Yes, we can provide vegetarian food and we’ll make sure to assist any campers with food allergies or dietary restrictions.
What happens during the Farmer’s Market Field Trip on Wednesdays?
The field trip to the market is one of the most fun parts of our week as it allows kids to meet farmers and taste the freshest produce around. Here’s our plan:
- 9:15am-9:45 Walk to the Farmer’s Market, heading West on California to 2nd street, then heading south
- 9:45-10:45 We walk through the market as a group from 2nd St to 4th St sampling delicious oranges, almonds and strawberries along the way.
- 10:45-11:15 We catch the Big Blue Bus Route No. 2 from 2nd and Arizona to Wilshire and 11th. This is a short trip, about 8 minutes and is good for the kids because it allows them to rest after the previous few hours of walking. We provide bus fare. We’ve done this every summer for 3 years and it’s completely safe (and fun!)
Kids should bring a hat and a backpack to carry any produce they’d like to take home. It’s recommended to give your kid $20 so they can buy whatever they’d like to take home like flavored almonds or oranges. At the market we will also buy food for the rest of the week, but this will be paid for by camp.
What’s this Lego Robotics camp you speak of?
We have two summer camps in the same location: Cooking Italiano for Kids and Lego Robotics. The Lego camp focuses on building robots and computer programming. Some parents like to sign up different kids for different camps…with the knowledge they’re all having a good time at the same place!
What are some examples of Afternoon Activities?
In the afternoon we have completed the majority of the cooking, so we use this time for a different type of activity which can include:
Physical Fitness Games: Like Tag and Hide n Seek, Steal the Bacon
Art Activities: Designing a menu for a restaurant
Science Activities: Making Gak!
Dance Activities: Playing Just Dance 2014!
What is the Registration Deadline?
Early signup is recommended to insure you have a space in camp. You must sign up 48 hours in advance of the day of camp you plan to attend, otherwise you will be charged a $15 Late Registration Fee per camper.
Terms and Conditions: Refunds are only offered if you notify us 3 weeks prior to camp. Your refund will be for 70% of your camp purchase. If you miss a day, you can use the day for another day of camp or Parent Night Out, but we do not refund individual missed days without 3 week prior notice.
